About Recovery Runs
Football has a way of making people certain about things.
A player isn’t good enough. A manager has lost the dressing room. A club is being run into the ground. We’ve all heard the arguments, and most of us have probably made a few ourselves.
But how much of what we’re saying do we actually know?
That’s often where Recovery Runs begins.
Recovery Runs is an independent football publication built around the questions that come with following the game. Sometimes that means looking through financial reports, examining performance data, or trying to understand decisions made behind the scenes. Other times, it means looking at the supporters, communities, and experiences that make football worth caring about in the first place.
There’s room here for investigation, analysis, history, and the occasional personal reflection.
The idea isn’t to arrive at every question with an answer already in mind. Sometimes the evidence supports what seemed obvious at first. Sometimes it complicates things. Occasionally, it leaves us with more questions than we started with.
I’m comfortable with that.
Behind Recovery Runs
I’m Kaleb Robinson, the writer behind Recovery Runs.
I’ve spent years around football as a supporter, player, and youth coach. Those experiences have given me plenty of opinions about the game, but they’ve also made me curious about how much of what we assume is actually supported by evidence.
Recovery Runs is where I work through those questions. I don’t claim to have all the answers, and I don’t particularly trust anyone who does.
